Ford GT40 – Christopher Ball REVISED!

Ford GT40 driven by Christopher Ball during the "Classic Endurance Racing" held at Estoril in September 2011. It is equipped with the Ford 302 engine. In the race, Christopher Ball wins the GT1 (1966–1974) class ahead of Juan Pablo Orjuela in his Porsche 911 3.0 RSR. ●

Lola T70 Mk III – Bernard Thuner REVISED!

Lola T70 Mk III driven by Bernard Thuner during the "Classic Endurance Racing" held at Estoril in September 2011. It is equipped with a Chevrolet V8 engine. Enthusiasts will notice the absence of the tail, partially visible behind the trailer. In the race, Bernard Thuner classifies second in the Proto 1 (1966-1972) class, behind Bobby Rahal in the Lola T212 FVC.

Os entusiastas notarão a ausência da cauda, parcialmente visível por detrás do reboque. Na corrida, Bernard Thuner classifica-se em segundo na classe Proto 1 (1966-1972), atrás de Bobby Rahal no Lola T212 FVC.
Ford GT40 – Claude Nahum REVISED!

On July 5, 1970, David Weir drives this Ford GT40 in the "500 Km de Vila Real", but does not finish, apparently due to overheating. Forty one years later, in September 2011, it’s nice to see this car again in Portugal, driven by Claude Nahum during the "Classic Endurance Racing" held at Estoril. It is now painted in a light metallic green close to the original "Borneo Green". In Vila Real it was painted in dark blue with an orange stripe. For my friends less acquainted with endurance racing, this was one of the Ford GT40s present in the "1968 24 Heures du Mans" race, won by Pedro Rodriguez and Lucien Bianchi in the iconic Ford GT40 Mk I (GT40P/1075) entered by "John Wyer Automotive Engineering". Sadly, this Ford GT40 Mk I (GT40P/1078), entered by "Strathaven Limited" and driven by Mike Salmon and Eric Liddell, had to abandon the race after 131 laps. ●
A 5 de Julho de 1970, David Weir conduz este Ford GT40 nos "500 Km de Vila Real", mas não termina, aparentemente devido a sobreaquecimento. Quarenta e um anos depois, em Setembro de 2011, é bom ver este carro de novo em Portugal, pilotado por Claude Nahum durante o "Classic Endurance Racing" realizado no Estoril. Está agora pintado num verde-claro metalizado próximo do "Borneo Green" original. Em Vila Real estava pintado em azul-escuro com uma faixa laranja. Para os meus amigos menos familiarizados com as corridas de resistência, este foi um dos Ford GT40 presentes nas "24 Heures du Mans de 1968", ganhas por Pedro Rodriguez e Lucien Bianchi no icónico Ford GT40 Mk I (GT40P/1075) inscrito pela "John Wyer Automotive Engineering". Infelizmente, este Ford GT40 Mk I (GT40P/1078), inscrito pela "Strathaven Limited" e pilotado por Mike Salmon e Eric Liddell, teve de abandonar a corrida após 131 voltas. ●

In 1974, Hugues de Fierlant and Richard Bond abandon the "24 Heures du Mans" with clutch problems in this Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.0 entered by Ecurie Francorchamps. One year later, Jean Beurlys Blaton, Nick Faure and John Cooper classify second in the GTS class and sixth overall. In September 2011, Juan Pablo Orjuela drives this superb machine to the second place in the GT1 (1966-1974) class during the "Classic Endurance Racing" held at Estoril.
Em 1974, Hugues de Fierlant and Richard Bond abandonam as "24 Heures du Mans" devido a problemas de embraiagem neste Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.0. Um ano depois, Jean Beurlys Blaton, Nick Faure and John Cooper classificam-se em segundo na classe GTS e em sexto na geral. Em Setembro de 2011, Juan Pablo Orjuela conduz esta soberba máquina ao segundo lugar na classe GT1 (1966-1974) durante o "Classic Endurance Racing" realizado no Estoril.

Mercedes-Benz (Sauber) C11 driven by Bob Berridge during the "Algarve Historic Festival" held at Portimão in October 2011. Here, Bob Berridge exits turn 10 possibly at around 137 mph (220 km/h), a few minutes away of winning the last race of the season and the "Group C Racing Series". Two days earlier, during Qualification 1, he took this splendid machine to 191.2 mph (307.692 km/h). ●
Mercedes-Benz (Sauber) C11 de Bob Berridge durante o "Algarve Historic Festival" realizado em Portimão em Outubro de 2011. Aqui, Bob Berridge sai da curva 10 possivelmente a cerca de 220 km/h, a poucos minutos de vencer a última corrida da temporada e a "Group C Racing Series". Dois dias antes, durante a Classificação 1, levou esta esplêndida máquina aos 307,692 km/h. ●
Porsche 962C – Wayne Park–Peter Harburg REVISED!

What a glorious sensorial experience – a 962C at full throttle. A sort of mechanical version of the epic ending of "Nessum Dorma" by Pavarotti.
In 1988, Jan Lammers, Johnny Dumfries and Andy Wallace win the "24 Heures du Mans" with the Jaguar XJR-9 LM, closely followed by Hans-Joachim Stuck, Klaus Ludwig and Derek Bell in Porsche 962C. Nine laps behind the winner, Stanley Dickens, John Winter and Frank Jelinski, in another Porsche 962C, entered by "Blaupunkt Joest Racing", finish third. In October 2011, I have the privilege of meeting this impressive white and blue machine, driven by Wayne Park and Peter Harburg during the "Algarve Historic Festival" held at Portimão. The team finishes the "Group C Racing Series" race with a fourth place in the C1 category, seventh place overall. ●

Leo Voyazides and Simon Hadfield in Lola T70 Mk3B win the race. Here, as the festival draws to a close, the Ford GT40 is carefully placed into the transporter. Partially visible, the Chevron B6 driven by Michael Schryver and Will Schryver, seventh in the same race.

João Novo classifies eighth on Race 1 and third on Race 2. Visible behind the Ford, the Porsche 911 RSR driven by Rui Macedo e Silva gets promising results during practice. Sadly, does not finish both races due to mechanical problems.

João Novo classifica-se em oitavo na Corrida 1 e em terceiro na Corrida 2. Visível atrás do Ford, o Porsche 911 RSR pilotado por Rui Macedo e Silva obtém resultados promissores durante os treinos. Infelizmente, não conclui ambas as corridas devido a problemas mecânicos.
Alfa Romeo 1750 GTAm driven by Armando Paes and Francisco Gallego during the Circuito MCE 2 – Estoril Racing Challenge held at Estoril in December 2012. This vera macchina da corsa finishes the Classic Challenge 60-minute race on third place, behind the Mini 1275 GT driven by José Filipe Nogueira and José Albuquerque (2nd) and the Porsche 928 4.7 driven by Eduardo Santos and Miguel Costa (1st).
Alfa Romeo 1750 GTAm pilotado por Armando Paes e Francisco Gallego durante o Circuito MCE 2 – Estoril Racing Challenge realizado no Estoril em Dezembro de 2012. Esta vera macchina da corsa termina a corrida de 60 minutos do Classic Challenge em terceiro lugar, atrás do Mini 1275 GT pilotado por José Filipe Nogueira e José Albuquerque (2º) e do Porsche 928 4.7 pilotado por Eduardo Santos e Miguel Costa (1º).
Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT4 pilotado por Fábio Mota e Mauro Marques durante a Qualificação 2 do Circuito ACDME 1, incluído no Campeonato de Portugal de Circuitos, realizado no Estoril em Outubro de 2012. A equipa vence a categoria GT4 na Corrida 1 (8º na geral) e classifica-se em quinto na Corrida 2 (13º na geral).
