ExisteBus – Obradors Versatile

Image
Coach operated by ExisteBus seen at Gare do Oriente, Lisboa , in April 2011. This coach is an Obradors Versatile first registered in 2003. It uses a DAF chassis. Established in 2007 and based in Setúbal , Existe Bus operates regular specialized services and occasional services. Here, we see this Obradors Versatile on an occasional service.  Data on Obradors models is scarce, but I hope in due course and with the generous help of some Spanish enthusiasts to better understand the history of this Catalan manufacturer based in Manresa, whose roots date back to 1932 and to the entrepreneurship of its founder, D. Francesc Obradors Fitó. I would like, for example, to understand the trajectory of Obradors, going through Gives, Fabus, OVI, until returning to its initial name, Obradors. As a note of interest, it is possible to find the Versatile with two paternities, Obradors or OVI (acronym for O mnibus V ehiculos I ndustriales ). For all intents and purposes, as far as I know, Obr...

Coach operated by Torres Bus seen at Cais do Sodré, Lisboa, in August 2015. This coach is a Sunsundegui Sideral registered in 2001. It uses the DAF SB 3000 chassis. Established by Marcelino Torres Fuentes and based in Getafe , Torres Bus operates regular specialized services and occasional services. Here, we see this Sunsundegui Sideral on an occasional service. After passing by the Cais do Sodré train station (its roof visible in the background), some passengers briefly enjoy, to their right, the view over the Tejo River.  Introduced in 1996, the Sunsundegui Sideral, combined with different chassis, seduces many operators, who welcome in 2000 the evolution to the Sideral 2000 , which in turn will have a lower version in 2002, suitable for regular services, the Sideral 330 (330, for a height of 3,30 m, 10.8 ft) and in 2006 a shorter version, the Sideral 10 (10, for a length of 10 m, 32.8 ft). It is also in 2006 that the Sunsundegui Sideral receives the latest evolution in terms of...

Established in 1989 by Mariusz Jańczuk and Leszek Szagdaj and based in Opole , Itaka (also Nowa Itaka) is a Polish tourist operator. On its website, the operator reveals the origin of the curious name, " The Greek island of Ithaca  ¹ , which inspired our name and logo, symbolizes long journeys and exciting homecomings ." Here, we see this Solaris Vacanza 13 precisely on a " long journey " to Portugal. Introduced in 2003 at the " Busworld " trade fair in Kortrijk, Belgium, and available to operators since 2004, the distinctive Solaris Vacanza 13, with three axles, derived from the Solaris Vacanza 12, with two axles, has a length of 42.3 ft and can accommodate up to 53 passengers (53+1+1). The self-supporting structure always receives the DAF...
