Private Owner – Ford 2000

Image
Tractor operated by a private owner seen in southern Portugal in November 2010. This tractor is a Ford 2000 registered in 1970. It has a wheelbase of 75.8 in and can be used in various agricultural functions. It uses the Ford 2.6L 3-cylinder diesel engine, possibly with 29 kW (39 hp) and can reach around 17.4 mph. Here, on a cold winter morning, we see this Ford 2000 awaiting for another days work in the fields. Somehow, these images capture the quintessence of my taste for tractors. There is little in them that is not essential to the function for which they are intended and it is in this honesty and in their natural wear and tear that I find beauty. Fourteen years ago, when I caught a glimpse of this Ford 2000, I had to stop to appreciate in detail its body marked by years of hard work. I like machines like this – unpretentious, honest and down-to-earth. A great little machine. Introduced in 1965, the Ford 2000
