CP 2606 – Groupement 50 Hz CP 6

Electric locomotive operated by CP   ¹  seen at Lisboa–Santa Apolónia station , on the Norte line , in January 2008. This electric locomotive with fleet number 2606 is built by the Groupement 50 Hz in 1974, included in a series of 12 units placed in service by the Caminhos de Ferro Portugueses in 1974–1975. These units preserve part of the genetic code of the SNCF BB 17000 series, but benefit from a more appealing " Nez cassé " body and bogies with a longer wheelbase (7.2 ft)  ² . Overall length (buffers) is 67.1 ft. Equipped with two pantographs and fed by 6,5 kV, 25 Hz, this  electric locomotive uses two Alsthom TAB–660 A1 traction motors and offers a choice of two gear ratios—" Pequena Velocidade " (low speed) or " Alta Velocidade " (high speed). Nominal output (wheels) is 2868 kW (3900 hp). Starting tractive effort is approximately 206/245 kN (21000/25000 kg). Weight in service is 78 t. CP 2502 – Groupement 50 Hz

This electric locomotive with fleet number 2502 is built by Groupement 50 Hz   ² , included in a series of 15 units (CP 2501–2515  ³ ) placed in service by CP in 1956–1957. Overall length (buffers) is 50.5 ft. Equipped with two pantographs and fed by 25 kV, 50 Hz, this electric locomotive uses four Alsthom TAO-645 A 1 traction motors. Nominal output (wheels) is 2053 kW (2790 hp). Starting tractive effort is approximately 191 kN (19500 kgf). Weight in service is 72 t. Wheelset arrangement is Bo' Bo'  ⁴  and gauge is 5 ft 5 21⁄32 in ³. Top speed is 75 mph. It was used for both passenger and freight services.  Here, on a serene October afternoon in 2007, we found locomotive CP 2502 at Entroncamento station , resting between services. ÖBB 1099.010 – Krauss/ÖSSW

Electric locomotive operated by  ÖBB   ¹  seen at St. Pölten station on the  Mariazellerbahn  in June 2009. This electric locomotive with fleet number 1099.010 is built by  Krauss / ÖSSW  in 1910, construction number 16, included in a series of 16 units placed in service by the  Niederösterreichische Landesbahnen  in 1909–1914. Overall length (buffers) is 36.15 ft. Fed via one pantograph by 6,5 kV, 25 Hz, this single-phase AC electric locomotive uses two 160 kW (217,5 hp) WBM 350 traction motors. Nominal continuous output is 320 kW (435 hp). Starting tractive effort is approximately 104 kN (10605 kgf  ² ). Weight in service is 49,8 t. Wheelset arrangement is C' C' (wheels with coupling rods) and gauge is 2 ft 5+15⁄16 in  ³ . Top speed is 31 mph. Used in both mixed and passenger services.
