Carris 226 – Irmãos Mota Atomic Mini Urb

What's it like, riding the Mini Urb?
The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis doesn't hold many surprises, especially when riding through the cobbled streets of Lisboa, up and down hills, often over inclement street car lines. No matter how careful the driver is, we are going to be tossed around. Vibrations and parasitic noises can be expressive and we hear it well when the engine flexes its muscles up hill. But, in truth, I didn't expect the Mini Urb to survive so long in some of the hostile territory inherited from the robust AEC Regal IIIs. Someone is certainly doing a good job. As a note of interest, the designation Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 616 CDI denotes a version with a gross vehicle weight of around 6 t (6), an engine with CDI (Common Rail Diesel Injection) and a nominal power output of 160 hp (16). ●
O chassis do Mercedes-Benz Sprinter não guarda muitas surpresas, especialmente quando se viaja pelas ruas empedradas de Lisboa, a subir e a descer colinas, muitas vezes sobre as inclementes linhas de eléctrico. Não importa o quão cuidadoso o motorista seja, vamos saltitar. Vibrações e ruídos parasitas podem ser expressivos e ouvimos bem o motor a flectir os músculos nas subidas. Mas, em boa verdade, não esperava que o Mini Urb sobrevivesse tanto tempo em algum do território hostil herdado dos robustos AEC Regal III. Alguém está decerto a fazer um bom trabalho. Como nota de interesse, a designação Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 616 CDI denota uma versão com um peso bruto na ordem das 6 t (6), um motor com CDI (Common Rail Diesel Injection) e uma potência nominal de 160 hp (16). ●

On a cloudy morning in January 2011, we surprise an Irmãos Mota Atomic Mini Urb, Carris 224, on service 737, Praça da Figueira–Castelo, passing through Largo da Sé on the way up to Castelo de São Jorge. For years, this was one of the services assigned to the robust AEC Regal IIIs. Behind us, the Sé de Lisboa that gives its name to the square. To our right, the Igreja de Santo António. ●
Numa manhã nublada em Janeiro de 2011, surpreendemos um Irmãos Mota Atomic Mini Urb, o Carris 224, no serviço 737, Praça da Figueira–Castelo, a passar pelo Largo da Sé na subida para o Castelo de São Jorge. Durante anos, este foi um dos serviços atribuídos aos robustos AEC Regal III. Atrás de nós, a Sé de Lisboa que dá nome ao largo. À nossa direita, a Igreja de Santo António. ●
Further on, after traveling along the narrow Rua Augusto Rosa and passing through Largo São Martinho, we see Carris 224 crossing with 228 at Rua do Limoeiro. ●
Mais adiante, depois de percorrer a estreita Rua Augusto Rosa e de passar pelo Largo São Martinho, vemos o Carris 224 a cruzar-se com o 228 na Rua do Limoeiro. ●
