Veltagus "Príncipe Perfeito" – Chantiers Navals de Caen


Sailing ship operated by Veltagus seen on the Tejo River, Lisboa, in June 2013. This sailing ship named "Príncipe Perfeito" and registered LX-421-AL is built in France by Chantiers Navals de Caen (Blainville-sur-Orne) ¹, completed in 1949 and originally delivered to Société boulonnaise des bateaux de pêche à vapeur (Boulogne-sur-Mer) ² under the name "Mont des Cats". Steel hull. Originally a robust steam-powered trawler or "chalutier à vapeur" intended for fishing campaigns in the North Sea, it is acquired by Veltagus in 2001 and modified in Portugal by Estaleiros Navais de Peniche to its present configuration as a three-masted schooner. It has an overall length of 136.2 ft and can accommodate up to 200 guests for sightseeing tours and other special events. The sail area is 650 m² and it is equipped with a 354 kW (475 hp) Caterpillar 3408B main engine. Established in 1998 and based in Lisboa, Veltagus ³ offers various services in the field of nautical tourism. "Blue Cruises" is a registered brand of Veltagus. Here, on a hot summer afternoon, we surprise the "Príncipe Perfeito" slowly turning towards Lisboa, offering his guests a wide panoramic view over the city and the Tejo River.

Este veleiro com o nome de "Príncipe Perfeito" e registado LX-421-AL é construído em França pelos Chantiers Navals de Caen (Blainville-sur-Orne) ¹, completado em 1949 e originalmente entregue à Société boulonnaise des bateaux de pêche à vapeur (Boulogne-sur-Mer) ² com o nome de "Mont des Cats". Casco em aço. Originalmente uma robusta traineira com propulsão a vapor ou "chalutier à vapeur" destinada às campanhas de pesca no Mar do Norte, é adquirida pela Veltagus em 2001 e modificada em Portugal pelos Estaleiros Navais de Peniche para a sua presente configuração como escuna de três mastros. Tem um comprimento total de 41,52 m e pode acomodar até 200 convidados em passeios turísticos e outros eventos especiais. A área vélica é de 650 m² e está equipado com uma máquina principal Caterpillar 3408B de 354 kW (475 hp). Estabelecida em 1998 e baseada em Lisboa, a Veltagus ³ disponibiliza diversos serviços na área do turismo náutico. A "Blue Cruises" é uma marca registada da Veltagus. Aqui, numa quente tarde de Verão, surpreendemos o "Príncipe Perfeito" a virar lentamente para Lisboa, oferecendo aos seus convidados uma ampla panorâmica sobre a cidade e o Rio Tejo.

³  Originally used in the Mediterranean Sea, presumably in company of sister ship "Harica" (bt2003). In 2007, sold to Lithuanian operator UAB "Technikos jėga" and used in sightseeing services in the Baltic Sea around the Port of Klaipėda. In 2020, sold to Estonian operator Yacht Charter Boutique, renamed "Venus SL" and used in a wide variety of events. In 2023, arrives in Portugal, becoming part of the Veltagus fleet, renamed "Príncipe do Tejo".
  Operated by Vedettes Vertes from 1982 to 1989, and then by Navix until 2002, it is the first restaurant boat to sail the idyllic Golfe du Morbihan. In 2002, arrives in Portugal, becoming a familiar presence on the Tejo River, renamed "Lisboa Vista do Tejo".
