Carristur 174 – MAN ND 202
Double-deck sightseeing bus operated by Carristur/Yellow Bus seen at Praça do Comércio, Lisboa, in January 2012. This double-deck sightseeing bus with fleet number 174 is a MAN ND 202 originally registered in 1995. Conversion into an open top vehicle is made in Portugal by Liderbus. It has an overall length of 38.4 ft and can accommodate 71 seated passengers, 19 standees and 1 passenger with reduced mobility (71+19+1PRM+1) ¹. It uses the 184 kW (250 hp) MAN D0836 LFL63 engine. Owned by Carris and based in Lisboa, Carristur operates regular specialized services and occasional services with buses, coaches and streetcars recognizable under the brand Yellow Bus. In partnership with Transtejo, Carristur also operates cruises on the Tejo River under the brand Yellow Boat. Here, we see this MAN ND 202 in a splendid winter morning on the Tagus Tour regular specialized service. In 2020, Carristur/Yellow Bus operates two hop-on/hop-off sightseeing tours in Lisboa – Belém Lisbon Bus Tour and Modern Lisbon Bus Tour with double-deck sightseeing buses, complemented by the Hills Tramcar Tour (the red trams) and the Yellow Boat River Tour featuring the S. Paulus.
Originally placed in service in 1995 by BVG (Berliner Verkehrs-Aktiengesellschaft), the MAN ND 202 (in certain contexts, MAN A14) is an innovative low-floor double-deck bus included in the DN 95/B-V 3001–3086-series, complemented with the prototype DN 94 as B-V 3000. It features a lightweight aluminum body by ABB Henschel and can usually accommodate 94 passengers (71 seats). Three double-leaf doors and two staircases allow for shorter stopping times. A 157 kW (214 hp) MAN D0826 LUH engine is placed under the floor at the rear. Top speed is about 46 mph. Although lacking the charisma of its predecessors, the iconic SD 200 and SD 202, and in spite of some peculiar flaws, the MAN ND 202 proves to be a rather competent vehicle. At the end of their service lives with BVG several examples are purchased by sightseeing service operators, including, in Portugal, Cityrama/Gray Line and Carristur/Yellow Bus. This Carristur 174 is possibly the former B-V 3010.
As a note of interest, BVG replaces the MAN ND 202 with the Neoman A39/MAN Lion’s City DD, placed in service in 2005. These impressive 3-axle double-deck buses with an overall length of 45 ft can usually accommodate 128/130 passengers (83/85 seats). They are equipped with the 228 kW (310 hp) MAN D2866 LUH engine or with the more compact and efficient 235 kW (320 hp) MAN D2066 LUH. In Portugal, STCP (Sociedade de Transportes Colectivos do Porto) operates identical vehicles since 2011 (STCP 2951–2965-series). ●

Este autocarro panorâmico de dois pisos com o número de frota 174 é um MAN ND 202 com primeiro registo em 1995. A conversão para veículo descapotável é feita em Portugal pela Liderbus. Tem um comprimento total de 11,71 m e pode acomodar 71 passageiros sentados, 19 passageiros em pé e 1 passageiro com mobilidade reduzida (71+19+1PMR+1) ¹. Utiliza o motor MAN D0836 LFL63 de 184 kW (250 hp). Detida pela Carris e baseada em Lisboa, a Carristur opera serviços regulares especializados e serviços ocasionais com autocarros e eléctricos reconhecíveis sob a marca Yellow Bus. Em parceria com a Transtejo, a Carristur opera também cruzeiros no Rio Tejo sob a marca Yellow Boat. Aqui, vemos este MAN ND 202 numa esplêndida manhã de Inverno no serviço regular especializado Tagus Tour. Em 2020, a Carristur/Yellow Bus opera dois circuitos panorâmicos hop-on/hop-off em Lisboa – Belém Lisbon Bus Tour e Modern Lisbon Bus Tour com autocarros panorâmicos de dois pisos, complementados pelo Hills Tramcar Tour (os eléctricos vermelhos) e o Yellow Boat River Tour com o S. Originalmente colocado em serviço em 1995 pela BVG (Berliner Verkehrs-Aktiengesellschaft), o MAN ND 202 (em alguns contextos, MAN A14) é um inovador autocarro de dois pisos com piso rebaixado incluído na série DN 95/B-V 3001–3086, complementada pelo protótipo DN 94 como B-V 3000. Possui uma carroçaria aligeirada em alumínio concebida pela ABB Henschel e pode usualmente acomodar 94 passageiros (71 assentos). Três portas de folha dupla e duas escadas permitem menores tempo de paragem. Um motor MAN D0826 LUH de 157 kW (214 hp) é colocado sob o piso à retaguarda. A velocidade máxima é de cerca de 74 km/h. Apesar de não possuir o carisma dos seus predecessores, os icónicos SD 200 e SD 202, e de algumas falhas peculiares, o MAN ND 202 prova ser um veículo bastante competente. No final das suas vidas de serviço com a BVG diversos exemplares são adquiridos por operadores de serviços panorâmicos, incluindo, em Portugal, a Cityrama/Gray Line e a Carristur/Yellow Bus. Este Carristur 174 é possivelmente o ex-B-V 3010.
