Private Owner – Renault Témis 630
Tractor operated by a private owner seen in southern Portugal, next to one of the Costa de Caparica beaches, in August 2023. This tractor is a Renault Témis 630 registered in 2003. It has a wheelbase of 107.1 in and can be used in various agricultural functions. It has all-wheel drive and uses the IVECO 5.9L 6-cylinder diesel engine, possibly with 95 kW (129 hp). It can reach around 25 mph. Here, on a beautiful summer morning by the sea, we surprise this Renault Témis 630 smelling of fresh fish and salt, guarded by an attentive seagull.
In fact, we are in the presence of an agricultural tractor adapted for fishing functions, capable of moving along the seafront, resisting the momentum of the waves, to leave or pick up fishing vessels. It then takes up position on the sand and, using an adaptation of the power take-off, helps the fishermen to pull the net. Finally, the tractor takes the fresh fish to the auction. We can find these tractors associated with the "arte-xávega" on several Portuguese beaches, having in a certain way replaced the traditional ox teams.
Produced between 1999 and 2005, the all-wheel drive Renault Témis will have the 550 version equipped with a 4-cylinder John Deere engine and the 610, 630 and 650 versions equipped with 6-cylinder IVECO engines. Inheriting the terminology of the TX and TZ predecessors, the cab variants are identified by the suffixes "X", without suspension, and "Z", with suspension – the 550 version is only available with the "X" cab. The option without a cab does not receive a suffix and is known as "arceau", in reference to the "arceau de sécurité" (safety arch) above the driver. The last Témis, a 650 X, leaves the assembly line in 2005. From then on, its place will be taken by the Renault Arés, later marketed as CLAAS Arés. The progressive acquisition of Renault Agriculture ¹ by CLAAS began in 2003, concluding in 2008 with the formation of CLAAS Tractor SAS. ●
Tractor operado por um proprietário privado visto no sul de Portugal, junto a uma das praias da Costa de Caparica, em Agosto de 2023. Este tractor é um Renault Témis 630 registado em 2003. Tem uma distância entre eixos de 272 cm e pode ser utilizado em diversas funções agrícolas. Possui tracção integral e usa o motor diesel IVECO 5.9L de 6 cilindros, possivelmente de 95 kW (129 hp). Pode alcançar cerca de 40 km/h. Aqui, numa bela manhã de verão junto ao mar, surpreendemos este Renault Témis 630 a cheirar a peixe fresco e a sal, guardado por uma atenta gaivota.
De facto, estamos na presença de um tractor agrícola adaptado para funções piscatórias, capaz de avançar pela beira-mar, resistindo ao ímpeto das ondas, para deixar ou ir buscar as embarcações de pesca. Depois, toma posição no areal e, utilizando uma adaptação da tomada de força, ajuda os pescadores a puxar a rede. Por fim, o tractor leva o peixe fresco para a lota. Podemos encontrar estes tractores associados à "arte-xávega" em diversas praias portuguesas, tendo de certa forma substituído as tradicionais juntas de bois.
Produzido entre 1999 e 2005, o Renault Témis de tracção integral terá a versão 550 equipada com um motor John Deere de 4 cilindros e as versões 610, 630 e 650 equipadas com motores IVECO de 6 cilindros. Herdando a terminologia dos antecessores TX e TZ, as variantes de cabina são identificadas pelos sufixos "X", sem suspensão, e "Z", com suspensão – a versão 550 é apenas disponibilizada com a cabina "X". A opção sem cabina não recebe sufixo e é conhecida por "arceau", em alusão ao "arceau de sécurité" (arco de segurança) sobre o condutor. O último Témis, um exemplar 650 X, sai da linha de montagem em 2005. A partir daí, o seu lugar será ocupado pelo Renault Arés, mais tarde comercializado como CLAAS Arés. A progressiva aquisição da Renault Agriculture ¹ pela CLAAS inicia-se em 2003, concluindo-se em 2008 com a formação da CLAAS Tractor SAS. ●
