Svitzer "Svitzer Funchal" – Båtservice Verft


Tugboat operated by Svitzer seen at the entrance of Doca de Alcântara, Lisboa, in May 2014. This tugboat named "Svitzer Funchal" and registered LX-121-RC, is built in Norway by Båtservice Verft (Mandal) ¹, completed in 1988, yard number 674, and originally delivered to Bugsertjeneste AS, Haugesund, under the name "Tenax".  In 2013 it comes to Portugal, reinforcing the Svitzer fleet in Lisboa. Steel hull and superstructure. It has an overall length of 109.3 ft and is equipped with two 1621 kW (2174 bhp) ² Krupp-MaK 8 M 332 AK main engines and Liaaen Compass TCN ³ "Z"-drive azimuth thrusters, providing a tractive effort ⁴ of 57 tons. Top speed is 13.5 knots. Operating in Portugal since 2005, Svitzer gives way in 2019 to Pioneiro do Rio and Grupo Sousa. Here, we see "Svitzer Funchal" returning to its base after another service. In the background, the tug "Portel" operated by Rebosado and the research vessel "Noruega". ●

Este rebocador com o nome de "Svitzer Funchal" e registado LX-121-RC, é construído na Noruega pelo Båtservice Verft (Mandal) ¹, completado em 1988, número de construção 674, e originalmente entregue ao Bugsertjeneste AS, Haugesund, com o nome de "Tenax". Em 2013 vem para Portugal, reforçando a frota da Svitzer em Lisboa. Casco e superestrutura em aço. Tem um comprimento total de 33,34 m e está equipado com duas máquinas principais Krupp-MaK 8 M 332 AK de 1621 kW (2174 bhp) ² e propulsores azimutais com transmissão em "Z" Liaaen Compass TCN ³, disponibilizando um esforço de tracção ⁴ de 57 toneladas. A velocidade máxima é de 13,5 nós. Operando em Portugal desde 2005, a Svitzer dá lugar em 2019 à Pioneiro do Rio e Grupo Sousa. Aqui, vemos o "Svitzer Funchal" a regressar à sua base depois de mais um serviço. Em segundo plano, o rebocador "Portel" operado pela Rebosado e o navio de investigação "Noruega". ●

After the disastrous choice of the British operator VODAFONE as my internet provider , which sent my connectivity back into the dark ages and whose mediocre or non-existent service affected five months of publications (September, October, November, December and January), it is finally possible to bypass the obstacle with the support of an interested party. The return to normality should occur from February 20th, closing with sixteen publications the cycle dedicated to passenger vessels in regular or tourist service on the Tejo River. As a note of interest, partly motivated by this disastrous experience with the British operator VODAFONE, I will soon launch a new digital space –  UNPLEASANT | LX . It will be interesting. Transtejo "Eborense" – Estaleiros Navais de Viana do Castelo

Ferry operated by Transtejo seen on the Tejo River heading to Lisboa in October 2013. This ferry of the monohull type, named "Eborense" and registered LX-2794-TL, is built in Portugal by Estaleiros Navais de Viana do Castelo   ¹  and completed in 1954 with yard number 23. Steel hull and superstructure. It has an overall length of 154.3 ft and can accommodate 346 passengers and 30 vehicles (346+30 v+5). It is equipped with two 364 kW (495 hp) MTU 12V 183 TC91 main engines and two fixed pitch propellers. Top speed is 11 knots. Withdrawn in 1983, the "Eborense" is rebuilt in 1991 and returned to regular service, first between Lisboa (Cais do Sodré) and Cacilhas and then between Lisboa (Belém) and Trafaria, where it remains until 2017.
