Douro Acima – MAN SD 202

Double-deck sightseeing bus operated by Douro Acima/CitySightseeing seen at Praça D. Pedro IV, Lisboa, in December 2014. This double-deck sightseeing bus is a MAN SD 202 originally registered in 1992. The self-supporting body made by Waggon Union has an overall length of 37.6 ft and can accommodate 76 seated passengers, 13 standees and 1 passenger with reduced mobility (76+13+1PRM+1). It uses the 150 kW (204 hp) MAN D2566 UH engine. Based in Porto, Douro Acima/CitySightseeing operates regular specialized services and occasional services. Here, we see this MAN SD 202 on the Red Line regular specialized service. In 2020, Douro Acima/CitySightseeing operates three hop-on/hop-off sightseeing tours in Lisboa – Red Line (west), Blue Line (east) with double-deck sightseeing buses, and the Green Line (or Castle Line) discovering the historic city center with agile sightseeing minibuses. 

As a note of interest, Douro Acima starts operating cruises along the Douro River in 1997, hence the traditional Rabelo Boat as a symbol of the company. In 2020, the fleet includes six old style boats: Borda d’Água, Douro Acima, Douro Abaixo, Caminhos do Douro, Memórias do Douro and Encantos do Douro. In 2006, Douro Acima starts operating CitySightseeing tours in Portugal with a fleet based on the iconic MAN SD 202. ●

Este autocarro panorâmico de dois pisos com o número de frota 3102 é um MAN SD 202 originalmente registado em 1992. A carroçaria auto-portante fabricada pela Waggon Union tem um comprimento total de 11,45 m e pode acomodar 76 passageiros sentados, 13 passageiros em pé e 1 passageiro com mobilidade reduzida (76+13+1PMR+1). Utiliza o motor MAN D2566 UH de 150 kW (204 hp). Baseada no Porto, a Douro Acima/CitySightseeing opera serviços regulares especializados e serviços ocasionais. Aqui, vemos este MAN SD 202 no serviço regular especializado Red Line. Em 2020, a Douro Acima/CitySightseeing opera três circuitos panorâmicos hop-on/hop-off em Lisboa – Red Line (oeste), Blue Line (este) com autocarros panorâmicos de dois pisos, e a Green Line (ou Castle Line) descobrindo o centro histórico da cidade com ágeis minibuses panorâmicos.

Como nota de interesse, a Douro Acima começa a operar cruzeiros ao longo do rio Douro em 1997, daí o tradicional Barco Rabelo como símbolo da empresa. Em 2020, a frota é composta por seis barcos de estilo antigo: Borda d’Água, Douro Acima, Douro Abaixo, Caminhos do Douro, Memórias do Douro e Encantos do Douro. Em 2006, a Douro Acima começa a operar circuitos CitySightseeing em Portugal com uma frota baseada no icónico MAN SD 202. ●

After the disastrous choice of the British operator VODAFONE as my internet provider, which sent my connectivity back into the dark ages and whose mediocre or non-existent service affected five months of publications (September, October, November, December and January), it is finally possible to bypass the obstacle with the support of an interested party. The return to normality should occur from February 20th, closing with sixteen publications the cycle dedicated to passenger vessels in regular or tourist service on the Tejo River. As a note of interest, partly motivated by this disastrous experience with the British operator VODAFONE, I will soon launch a new digital space –  UNPLEASANT | LX . It will be interesting. Carris 2443 – Caetano City Gold MAN 2KD

Bus operated by Carris seen on Avenida Infante Dom Henrique, Lisboa, in May 2019. This bus with fleet number 2443 is a Caetano City Gold MAN 2KD registered in 2005 and included in a series of 50 units, 2401–2450, placed in service in 2005–2006. It has an overall length of 39.4 ft and can accommodate 35 seated passengers and 44 standees (35+44+1). Esteban Urban 90 seats. It uses the MAN 18.280 HOCL-NL chassis with the 206 kW (280 hp) MAN D0836 LOH engine. As a note of interest, the 2451–2500-series, placed in service in 2006, uses the same MAN 18.280 HOCL-NL chassis, but combined with a Marcopolo Viale body.
