St.º António–Barraqueiro 335 – Sunsundegui Interstylo II


Articulated bus operated by St.º António–Barraqueiro seen at Terminal do Campo Grande, Lisboa, in July 2010. This articulated bus with fleet number 335 is a Sunsundegui Interstylo II first registered in 2004. It is presumably the former 102 (0660 CWY) of the Herederos de J. Colmenarejo. It has an overall length of 61.5 ft (18,75 m). Estebán Urban 90 seats. It uses the Volvo B12MA chassis with the 250 kW (340 cv) Volvo DH12E engine. Based in Frielas, in 2010 St.º António–Barraqueiro, or Joaquim Jerónimo–Santo António, operates regular services, regular specialized services, and occasional services. Joaquim Jerónimo is the name of the founder of the Joaquim Jerónimo, Lda. company established in 1933 and from which derives the present operation. "St.º António" comes from St.º António dos Cavaleiros, the geographic area served by this operator, which is part of the Barraqueiro group. Here, we see this peculiar Sunsundegui Interstylo II during a break in regular service. As a point of interest, I believe there were two units of this model in service at this time, 335 and 336.

Introduced in 1993, the Sunsundegui Interstylo is a bus designed for interurban service, with a horizontal engine mounted between the axles (in the"belly"). It is offered in two lengths: 41 ft and 61.5 ft (articulated), with Volvo B10M and B10MA chassis. The second generation, Sunsundegui Interstylo II or Sunsundegui Interstylo Restyling, is—as far as I know—offered in three lengths: 41 ft, 48.2 ft (3 axles), and 61.5 ft (articulated). Generally with Volvo B10M/A or B12M/A chassis. The versions with a low entry use the Volvo B12B LE chassis, with the engine at the rear. Due to the scarcity, inconsistency, and dispersion of published data, research on the Sunsundegui Interstylo family is difficult and time-consuming. Any additions or corrections are welcome. ●

Aqui, vemos este peculiar Sunsundegui Interstylo II durante uma pausa no serviço regular. Como nota de interesse, creio que nesta altura existiam em serviço duas unidades deste modelo, 335 e 336.

Introduzido em 1993, o Sunsundegui Interstylo é um autocarro vocacionado para o serviço interurbano, com um motor horizontal montado entre eixos (na "barriga"). É proposto em dois comprimentos: 12,50 m e 18,75 m (articulado), com chassis Volvo B10M e B10MA. A segunda geração, Sunsundegui Interstylo II ou Sunsundegui Interstylo Restyling, é— tanto quanto julgo saber—proposta em três comprimentos: 12,50 m, 14,70 m (3 eixos), e 18,75 m (articulada). Habitualmente com chassis Volvo B10M/A ou B12M/A. As versões com entrada rebaixada utilizam o chassis Volvo B12B LE, com o motor à retaguarda. Pela escassez, inconsistência e dispersão de dados publicados, a pesquisa da família Sunsundegui Interstylo é difícil e morosa. Devidas adições ou correcções são bem-vindas. ●
