Established in 2007 and based in SetúbalAtlantic Ferries ³ provides the connection between Setúbal and the Tróia Peninsula in the estuary of the Sado River. Here, on a serene autumn day in 2019, we surprise the "Roaz Corvineiro" leaving Setubal, heading to Tróia (Ponta do Adoxe terminal). The names "Garça Branca" (great egret, Ardea alba ) and "Roaz Corvineiro" (common bottlenose dolphin, Tursiops truncatus) pay tribute to these wild species, familiar presences in the estuary of the Sado River.

There are days like these, when the simplest things seem exceptionally beautiful. Like here, on this serene autumn afternoon in the bay of Setúbal, under a sky painted in watercolor and the horizon filled with green, punctuated by the unique Fort of São Felipe. Shortly after, the ferry would gently leave the pier heading for Tróia, bathed by the Atlantic. Gently, so as not to disturb the enchantment, perhaps followed from afar by the watchful eyes of the bottlenose dolphins that inspired its name.

● Sadly, I didn’t find any good footage of the "Roaz Corvineiro". But check it out here, a look at the community of bottlenose dolphins in the estuary of the Sado river that inspired its name. Video retrieved from o ICNF
